What is behavioral respite?

Sometimes, people with intellectual or developmental disabilities face tough moments where their behavior becomes challenging. In such situations, they might require a short break in a different environment. This temporary relocation is necessary when there's a noticeable increase in the intensity of their challenging behaviors. Our main goal is to help them get ready to return to their community. Referrals are handled by the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and typically, stays last no longer than 30 days, but can vary.
